As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 101, "Controls and Displays."

An electrical short circuit in the combination meter could occur, causing the speedometer, the odometer, and the fuel gauge to go blank.
